It’s a special thing to see the bond that exists between a mother and her daughter on a girl’s wedding day. Years go by leading up to this big moment, this one day a girl has talked about with her mom over many conversations since she was a child. Now, the young girl is a gorgeous bride, and her mom can’t help but look at her with such pride, seeing the beautiful woman she has become! Here’s Julie and her mom’s special moment…

I recently shot a bridal portrait in this meadow, part of a farm where one of my brides will be getting married this fall. I wish I could show you more, but I will have to wait until after her wedding day to reveal the rest! Until then…

Today we have a very simple and fun project that requires few materials. We call them “blooming rosettes”! I baked tall french cakes and painted them with white icing, making them perfect canvases for these hand-crafted, citrus hued paper flowers. Then, to give the cakes a finished look, I wrapped them in bold orange ribbon. -Lauren-

Want to make them yourself? You will need card stock, a pencil, scissors, and ribbon (for added décor).

I used a variety of shades to make the rosettes. I chose an orange palette, and green card stock for the leaves.

Begin by lightly tracing a spiral pattern on a 5″x5″ piece of card stock. Cut out the spiral along its lines. Simply roll the spiral from the outside until it forms a rosette. Pull away the edges to make the rosette “bloom”.

Note: No glue is needed since the paper flowers and leaves sit perfectly on the icing!
