A Recipe for Detail #6: Ribbons & Topiaries

Well, I think the changing of the seasons has officially begun.  The long, hot, sweltering summer is slowly traipsing it’s way into fall.  Ahhh, the cool, crisp scent of fall!  There’s nothing else like it.  Like ordering a steaming hot hazelnut latte instead of an iced cold frappe.  Feeling the brisk wind rush across your face and grabbing for that oversized sweater and your favorite scarf to keep you cozy.  Raking up the leaves in your front yard and just wishing you could jump into the big pile, but your neighbors are watching!  Fall is pretty famous for it’s foliage and texture, so today on Recipe for Detail we’ve found some gorgeous textured ribbons, metallic leaves and topiaries to create a fall inspired, statement making setting for our place cards. We begin by laying the ribbons on the table in a “lattice” (over and underneath each other). Next, we use houndstooth patterned paper and basille for the place cards that sit atop the miniature topiaries…Enjoy!

1222Write your guest’s names on the place cards and just insert them into the place card holder.  Surround the miniature potted topiary with dried moss.

32We strung a little “c-e-l-e-b-r-a-t-e” banner across the table, below the large topiary centerpiece.  We also added some green apples and scattered some metallic leaves.52

*Note: These miniature topiaries can be found at any major craft store or you can order them online. Have fun making them your own by incorporating your wedding theme colors into the place card design!

September 9, 2010 - 11:42 pm Hailey M. - Such a great idea, I just might try it! Thanks for the inspiration!

September 10, 2010 - 2:22 pm Kelly - Wow! Great ensemble. What about a cost estimate for this project? For a wedding of about 75 guests?

September 29, 2010 - 9:09 pm Liz M - Where did you get your patterned paper? I've been looking for something with the design of the background paper that you used for the table number.

September 29, 2010 - 9:34 pm Hilton - Hi Liz, I found the patterned paper at Michael's, one of my local craft stores. These sheets are sold individually, I just mixed and matched them to go along with my color scheme. Hope this helps! -Lauren-
